How the maths works

The formula uses only the numbers you enter above. No industry averages are buried inside the output. Every assumption is a slider you control.

Revenue walking (monthly) =

missed/week × 4.33 weeks × close rate × job value × competitor share

= 5 × 4.33 × 40% × $2,500 × 60%

= $12,990/month

Questions

About this calculator

What counts as a missed or unanswered enquiry?

Any call that goes to voicemail, any after-hours form or website message that sits unread until morning, and any enquiry that gets a reply after the person has already moved on. The question is not whether you eventually reply — it is whether you replied while they still cared.

Why does the calculator multiply by 4.33?

4.33 is 52 weeks divided by 12 months. It converts your weekly missed-call count into an accurate monthly figure. A flat four weeks would undercount by about eight percent.

What is the competitor share figure based on?

It is a conservative assumption, not a cited statistic. Not every unanswered enquiry goes straight to the next business — some callers leave a voicemail, some try again the following day. The default of 60 percent reflects that a meaningful share of service enquiries are time-sensitive: callers who do not reach a business quickly tend to ring the next result. Adjust the slider to see your numbers at different assumptions. Set it to 100 percent for the worst-case total; set it lower for a more conservative floor.

What is the fastest way to reduce missed calls?

The Response engine (one of the seven growth systems Margin installs) catches every missed call and after-hours form, answers within five minutes, scores the caller's intent using AI, and routes the lead into your customer records. The result is a full attribution trail from first ring to collected dollar. Run a free audit to see where your leak is biggest.

Is a missed call text back the same as an AI receptionist?

A missed call text back sends an automated SMS when you miss a call, keeping the enquirer warm until you call them back. An AI receptionist handles the conversation, takes the brief, and in better systems books the call-back or routes the lead without you touching it. The text back is a useful patch; the AI receptionist is the fix.
